Honoring women’s voices in our Plum Village tradition

Those of you on our email list know that our theme for our Thursday evening sangha meetings this month is “Honoring women’s voices in our Plum Village tradition.”

In celebration of Women’s History Month, The Mindfulness Bell magazine has shared a selection of articles from its archives by women teachers. You can read it here. You will find articles by Sisters Chan Khong, Chan Duc, and Dang Nghiem, as well as Dharma Teachers Kaira Jewel Lingo and Leslie Rawls.

Holiday meals

Our sangha’s Plant-Powered Practitioners Support Network (PPPSN) has been mostly inactive these last months, since the pandemic has prevented us from gathering in person to share food and videos.  However, now that the holidays are approaching, we’d like to offer support to those of you who want to leave animal products off your holiday table.

Check out this article (among many you can find online) about negotiating the holiday kindly with meat-eating family and friends.  Recipes included:

Recently, in celebrating Thay’s continuation day, Steven took a picture (via Zoom) of the Sangha singing “Happy Continuation Day to You” and sent it to  Thay in care of the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation.  This is how it came out. Also, in response to some questions, Steven says that today’s guided meditation was from Thich Nhat Hanh’s The Blooming of a Lotus, pages 107 & 108. The reading was excerpted from Thich Nhat Hanh’s The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching, Chapter Eleven on Right Mindfulness.
